Synchronize Excel Files Between Devices

Lloyd has a question about using Excel on his PC and smartphone. He writes: “I have been trying, for several months, to find a way to synchronize a few files (a few small Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and text files) between my laptop PC running Win 7 Pro and my Samsung Galaxy S4. I have tried using Google Drive, but it is, trying to be “nice,” a ridiculously stupid piece of software. I am not an unintelligent person, in fact, I was at one time a member of Mensa until I got tired of the meetings in which everyone spent most of the time trying to impress everyone else with how smart they were, so I dropped out. Now, I find myself getting old and I have much I would still like to accomplish. I don’t want to waste my time trying to do something that should be so simple. Synchronizing my Microsoft Office files is a breeze using Syncit. Isn’t there a similar program for other types of files. You folks come up with a lot of help in a lot of areas, so I’m hoping you can help with this. BTW, I would appreciate some sort of response just to know you received this and have at least taken it into consideration.”

The simplest solution for for your problem, would just be to use OneDrive to store those files you need to be synched. Add the free OneDrive, Word and Excel apps to your phone by visiting the Google Play store.

If you haven’t already added OneDrive to your Windows 7, you can click here to click a link to download it.

Just scroll down to where it says “Dowload the desktop app for Windows 7 and older.”

Once installed, OneDive will appear in your File Explorer.

When you set up the OneDrive, you can choose which files you want to sync between OneDrive and your PC.

When you work on a selected file on Excel in your PC, it will save to both the PC and to the cloud.  If you’re using Windows 8.1 or 10, OneDrive is already integrated into your PC.

You should be able access your Excel files from either your PC or your phone, make any necessary changes and those changes will sync between the devices.
