Chrome Mobile: Explore The Basic Settings Menu

Last week,  I introduced you to the Chrome mobile browser app and showed you how to add tabs and bookmark favorite pages.

In this tip, we’ll check out the Settings menu.

To get to settings, open the Chrome app and tap the three-dot Menu icon at the top right.

Then tap Settings from the drop-down menu.

At the top of the list, you’ll see Basics. First on the list is Search engine.  The default search engine is Google.

Tap Search engine and you’ll have the option of switching to Yahoo! or Bing.

Autofill forms lets you choose to have the browser app remember things like your  address or a credit card number to make it easier to fill in forms. But it is somewhat less secure since someone who steals your phone might be able to pick out some of the information. But if you find typing on a tiny phone screen a pain, you might want to use it.

Tap it to add addresses or credit card numbers.

Save passwords will save your online account and website passwords.

This is where you can choose to automatically sign in to certain websites. You can go to passwords.google.com to manage those passwords. To delete a password, you can just tap on it and select delete.

Home page is where you can decide whether or not you want a homepage for your browser.

Tap it to add or change a homepage. Just tap the current page to change.

Tomorrow, we’ll move on to exploring the Advanced settings.
