In Part 1 of this tip, we learned about Apple Notes, a sometimes hidden gem of an app found on your iPhone, iPad and on your Mac Computer. Click here if you haven’t read that article yet.
In this tip, we’ll learn how to get even more out of Apple Notes. Once you’ve created a note, there’s still a whole lot more you can do.
To unleash the power of Notes, tap the circular ‘plus sign’ button that on the right.
You’ll see four option, but for now, we will focus on the second option from left, the ‘Aa’ button.
This gives you options for formatting your text. You can turn a line of text into a title, a heading or a bulleted, numbered or a dashed checklist.
However, it does not give you any options to Bold or italicize text. To do that, you need to select the text that you want to format. This, in turn, will produce a pop-up menu where you will see the ‘BIU’ option. From there, you can bold, italicize or underline any text.
Embedding pictures
The Notes app also lets you insert images in your notes. To add an image, click the big plus button and the camera icon.
You can either take a new picture using the camera of your iPhone or iPad, or you can simply add an existing image from the Photo Library. It really is as simple as that.

My Notes app looks nothing like the screen shots you have! I have no “plus” sign and there is no place to make a bulletted list, etc. I have an iPhone 6 and an older iPad Mini. Where do I get an app that does this? I searched in the apps and found nothing. I would love to have these features! Help!
