We’ve had a great time learning about all the fun features of the Apple Notes App.  If you’ve missed our previous articles this week, you can check them out here.

Part 1 – Creating a note.

Part 2 – Formatting & pictures

Part 3 – Checklists & Sharing

Part 4 – Sync & Protect

Today, we’ll check a super-fun feature that can really add personality and usefulness to your notes.

Sketching in notes

This is perhaps the most fun feature of the Notes app as it allows you to use your finger to sketch in the Notes app. To enable this feature, we will once again tap on the big plus sign button towards the right.

In the menu that pops up, you need to tap on the squiggly line icon.

Once you do that, you will see pencils and rulers at the bottom of the screen. No secret tricks here. To start sketching just choose one item from the pen, the marker or the pencil and start drawing. If you want to change the color of the lines, then tap on the circle to the far right and choose a color. To erase a line, tap the pencil eraser (second from right) and scrub over the part that needs deletion.

There is also a ruler available and as expected, it allows you to draw straight lines. Tap on it and you will see it appear on the screen. To move it, use one finger and to rotate it, use a two-finger gesture. To draw a straight line, simply draw along the ruler’s edge.

The greatest thing about this sketching feature is that you can share the image that you have sketched on social media, on Messages (or Whatsapp) or send it to someone via e–mail.

As we’ve learned this week, the Notes app is powerful enough for most of our daily needs, so it’s really not necessary to go looking for another app to install. Once you start using it, you will be surprised at how indispensable it is.
