If you ever decide to create something that you wish to share with the world, like a video, you may find it difficult to find good music to go along with it that is not copyrighted. Asking for permission to use a particular copyrighted song may be time-consuming, and in the end, the original creators of the song or music may not even allow you to use it. Luckily, a web app called Jukedeck can automatically generate a song for you, suited to your preferences. This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating the song and downloading it to your computer.
Open the web browser of your choice and go to jukedeck.com. In this tutorial, Google Chrome will be used. This page will open. You’ll see the option to make a track of a genre of music, with a particular mood and a length.
Click on any of the highlighted boxes to see a menu. First select the type of track and the mood.
You can also decide how long you want your music to be. Click on the box that displays the duration of the song (highlighted in red) and type in how many minutes you want your music to be. Currently, the maximum duration is 5 minutes.
Once you’ve made your selections, click on the Create My Track button.
You will be asked if you want to sign up on Jukedeck. If you don’t want to, simply click on the gray “X” button on the top right of the small window to the right of “We’re Making Your First Track!” Otherwise, you can type in your details, tick the “I’m not a robot” box and click “Sign Up For Free.” If you want to download your music, you will need to create a free account.
A confirmation e-mail will be sent by Jukedeck to the e-mail address you just typed in. Login to your e-mail account and you should see an e-mail from Jukedeck Support. Open the email and click to confirm your email address.
Jukedeck will now create the song based on your chosen settings. Once it is complete, you will see a play button at the center and you title the app has randomly generated for your song. To listen to the song, click on the “Play” button (highlighted in red.)
To download the file, click the download button. (You’ll need to have signed up for an account.)
Jukedeck offers three plans. Individuals and small businesses can download and use the music for free as long as they give proper credit when using in a project. Or you can pay .99 per track and use it royalty-free without giving credit.
Then select the type of file and select download.
Giving credit is as simple as adding:” Music from Jukedeck – create your own at http://jukedeck.com” wherever you use the song. For example, if you are uploading a video on YouTube that uses the song generated by Jukedeck, you can paste that text into your video description.
Once your browser has finished downloading the file, click on it. A music player program will open and you can listen to the song on your computer.
