Microsoft it getting into the eBook game. The market is dominated by Amazon, but Nook, Google Play, iBooks and other companies also offer electronic books that can be downloaded and read on your device.
For now, the eBook store is only available to those previewing Windows 10 as part of the Windows Insider program. These books can be purchased directly from the Windows Store.
Then users can check them out in the Microsoft Edge Browser.
There will be a Books tab right next to the Favorites and History tabs in the Edge Hub.
Users will be able to navigate eBooks with the table of contents or using a bar at the bottom of Edge. Cortana will also offer definitions and show you embedded audio and video content. Users will be able to change the font, text size, themes, and navigation controls to customize their reading experience.
In addition to books purchased from the store, you’ll be able to read any DRM-free eBoook in the EPUB format. Right now, the feature is only available in preview versions of the latest build of Windows. Right now, Microsoft is taking feedback from users and working out bugs before deciding whether to make the feature a permanent part of Windows.
