Welcome to Free Sound! This site offers a database of creative commons licensed sound (audio snippets, samples, recordings, bleeps, etc.) for reuse.

When you arrive at the site, I recommend checking out the About page. It provides a great description of how you can use the site, and the makers behind it.

Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to dive into the database and start browsing. You can check out the featured sounds on the main page, use the search engine at the top right of the page to look for specific sounds, or check out the browsing options under More Sounds at the right of the page.

When you’ve picked a sound to browse, you’ll find that you can listen to it through the built in player on the site by clicking play. Beneath the player, you’ll find a description of the sound and any processing done to it. On the right side of the page, you’ll find the creative commons license, and metadata about the sound (file type, length, size, etc.).

To download sounds you’ll need to register for a free account, you’ll find the Register link in the top right of the page next to Log In. Fill out the form with as much information as you want (note your name is optional) and then check your email for that confirmation letter.

This is a great way to source sounds that you can reuse. Go check it out today!
