How to spot a fake Flash update

I got targeted with a fake update for Adobe Flash this morning, just an hour or so after I did a real update from Adobe. Here’s what a genuine Flash update looks like.

Now, let’s check out a faker!

If you look closely at this you’ll see it’s not actually from Adobe. It says it’s from Open Software Updater.

This is program promises to help keep your programs updated, but that’s nothing that your PC can’t already do with Windows updates.

Programs like this often come with unwanted toolbars and pop-up ads. And I’m just plain suspicious of any program that tries to reel you in by pretending to be something that it is not.
