Removing an app in Win 10

A reader is having an issue removing a program.

“I downloaded a program called  Craftery XLS  and would like to know how to remove it. I cannot find it anywhere. I use Win 10 and Firefox.”

How you remove this app, depends on where how you acquired it. Crafty XLS is available as an app in the Microsoft store and as an extension for Firefox and Chrome. Let’s run through the various ways to uninstall it.

Type ‘apps and features’ in your search box and click on the result.

The Apps & features window will open.

Scroll down to find the program you want to delete or search for it using the search box. In this case, the actual name of the program is XLS Opener. That can sometimes be the tricky part of finding a program, getting the name exactly right.

Click on the program and you’ll see the option to uninstall.

Confirm that you wish to uninstall.

The app should uninstall in a few seconds or a few minutes, depending on the size.

If the program doesn’t show up when you look under apps, you may have it installed as a browser extension. We’ll look at how to remove an extension in the next part of this series.
