A reader wants some help migrating his current email account to Gmail.
“I use an e-mail service known “ureach.com” I would like to discontinue the account, can you show how I can migrate my e-mails to gmail.com.”
It should be a fairly easy process. Go to your Gmail inbox and click the gear icon in the upper right on the inbox. Then select Settings from the dropdown menu.

When Settings opens, click on the Accounts and Import tab. Then select Import mail and contacts.

Sign into the account you wish to import from and click Continue.

You’ll need to enter your password. I also had to input information for the POP server for my other account. If you aren’t sure what that is, you should be able to look it up easily on their website. Then click Continue.

You can choose to leave a copy of the retrieved message on the original server. But if you’re shutting it down, you might wish to erase it. You can also choose to have all of the incoming messages automatically archived so they don’t fill up your inbox and select whether you’d prefer they all be labeled as coming from your old account. Then click on Start import.

It could take a few hours or a few days to import all of your messages depending on how many you’ve got in your other account. If you choose to archive your messages, make sure to click on All Mail to the left in order to see them. My import started almost instantly.

Will the imported emails come across in one big mess, or will they still be sorted in folders, like INBOX, SENT, and the 20 user defined folders I have set up?
Thanks,
Jak
Howdy,
Just a quick followup question. I have tried to do this on many occasions (including today) and I always get the same answer, which states that the account can’t be imported right now and to try later. Is there another step to get past this? Thanks.
