I’ve been ready for summer since January, but now that it is almost here, I’ve been thinking about fun summer activities. What immediately came to mind were summers spent reading through my local libraries summer reading program as a kid. Honestly, we practically lived at the library in the summer!
A friend sent me the link to Freading in the hopes that my library had the program and I could use it to read books for classes this summer rather than purchasing them, but my local library isn’t a member. However, I thought that would be a great site to share with all of you! In my experience it’s hard to keep up with all the services offered by the library, so you might not even be aware that through your library you could have access to over 20,000 ebooks for free!
So the first thing you need to do is find out if your library has access to Freading. Like I said mine doesn’t, but I dropped them a recommendation to look into it. If your library does you’ll need your library card to log in. I suggest checking out the FAQ for more details on how the site works and what you need to get the ebooks.
You can also browse the Featured books on the page you land on when loading into the site. You can also check out their Top Downloads or New Arrivals. I took a look at the Categories section to see if they offered as wide as a selection as you’d find at library and was really blown away by the amount of categories offered. You’ll find Art, Fiction,History, Gardening, Reference, Self-Help Sports, True Crime and more!
I just wanted to give you a heads up that this service exists so that if you have access to it you can take advantage of all those books!
