Disney is ready to take on Netflix

It looks like Disney is ready to take on Netflix in the streaming game. The company announced that they’ll offer a new streaming bundle that’s priced exactly the same as the most popular Netflix subscription option, $12.99 per month.

Here’s what you get for your money:

Disney’s brand new Disney + streaming service. Priced at $6.99 per month as a standalone, this service will feature a library of Disney classics as well new series based on Disney properties. It will also be home to the Marvel Universe movies and offer new live-action series with Falcon, Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Loki, Scarlet Witch, and Vision as well as animated What If? series.

The new service will also be home to the Star Wars movies and new animated shows set in the Star Wars Universe. Then there are the movies and programs Disney acquired along with their purchase of Fox including 30 years worth of the Simpsons. The service will launch in November with 500 movies and 7,500 television episodes.

ESPN + This sports service will offer hundreds of MLB, NHL and MLS games, Grand Slam tennis, Top Rank boxing, PGA Tour golf, college sports, international rugby, cricket, the full library of ESPN Films including 30 for 30, and is the home of UFC fighting.

Hulu  This is the basic level of Hulu which includes commercials. Hulu offers thousands of shows and movies as well as original programming.

The three services separately would cost $18. This deal represents a $5 a month savings. As more and more streaming services pop up, expect to see more bundling deals like this. Just the same way cable and satellite networks bundle channel packages together.
