If you’re still running Windows 7 after Microsoft support expires on January 14, 2020, expect to get nagged by Microsoft.
Windows 7 users will see a full-screen notification warning about the risks of using Windows 7 without support from Microsoft. The notification will stay up until you click on it and acknowledge that it’s there.
What are the risks now that Microsoft will no longer provide security and bug fixes for Windows 7? Without security updates from Microsoft, your PC will be vulnerable to attack. No third-party security software will be able to protect you since they need the information that Microsoft provides to fully protect your PC.
Cyber-criminals will now know that Windows 7 is vulnerable. When security updates are issued for Windows 10, they’ll be able to reverse engineer them to attack your Windows 7 PC. So, not only is your back door unlocked, but the crooks all know it.
Affected systems are Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate. Windows 7 Professional users who have purchased the extended security update won’t get the notification.
