Psst… Wanna know a secret? It looks like it’s still possible to get a free Windows 10 upgrade for your Windows 7 or 8.1 computer, even though Microsoft’s offer of a free upgrade expired years ago.
Last time we checked, the free option was still working. Here’s how to do it. First, do what you would normally do for any upgrade. Make sure all of your files are backed up and that your PC has the most recent updates it’s capable of installing.
Then go to this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Click on Download Tool Now.
Double-click on the file in your Downloads Folder.
You’ll be offered a choice between upgrading the PC now or creating installation media. Choose Create Installation Media.
Insert a flash drive into your USB slot and save the installation media to it. When you’re ready to upgrade, open the drive in File Explorer, and double-click on Setup. Follow the instructions to complete the upgrade.
