A few weeks ago, I told you about my new Surface Pro 7. I’ve been using that computer for a month now, so I thought I’d give you an update. My three-word verdict: I LOVE IT!
I love it so much that I’m find myself avoiding my 3-year-old Dell desktop. The 8-year-old Surface Pro I replaced was still fast and never crashed, however, there was a mechanical problem with the on button for the tablet.
While the Dell and the Surface Pro both have 8GB of RAM, the Surface Pro seems to be moving at lightspeed compared to the desktop. The Surface runs the full version of Windows 10, so it can run all of the same programs as the desktop, just a whole lot faster.
I do miss my large monitor and the full-sized keyboard. The detachable keyboard for the Surface Pro is generously sized but still a bit smaller than my desktop keyboard and sometimes I find it crowded when I’m typing at a fast pace.
I also purchased the Surface Pen for $70. More than a stylus, this pen doubles as a mouse. I’ve barely scratched the surface (so to speak) of what this device will do.
But so far I can report zero crashes or slowdowns. I’m considering buying a hub device that allows me to connect the Surface to my larger monitor and plug in my keyboard. I’ll let you know what develops.
