I could spend all day sating my wanderlust at Maptia. This site focuses on allowing users to share their stories via amazing photographs and text.
To begin browsing I recommend you check out the main page. Just scroll down and take it all in. When you’re finished do one of two things: either head over to the FAQ page and get any remaining questions you might have about the site answered, or click Explore which will put you on the Home page for the site where you can see all the editor’s picks for best stories.
When I visited the daily featured story was Beneath Iceland’s Largest Glacier where I found breathtaking photos of the glacier along with the photographer’s story of the experience which was peppered with interesting facts about the glacier Vatnajökull.
You can keep scrolling down the Home page to see more stories. I seriously spent hours going through them. All the photography is amazing. You’ll notice that they fit into different recommendation categories. For example, some are heartwarming, beautiful, vivid, or thought-provoking to name just a few.
At the top of the page you’ll find more navigation options: Explore, Community, Journeys and Places. Each offers a unique point of entry into the stories being shared on the site.
To create an account you can connect via Facebook, Twitter, or just use your e-mail address if you prefer. I used F-connect with Facebook as always. Joining the site gives you the opportunity to share your own stories. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be walked through setting up your profile page. And you can begin sharing stories right away.
This site is so awesome I could go on about it forever, but it’s probably better if you go see it for yourself!
