The DNA Project

Welcome to The DNA Project – a unique music experience where you’ll witness the creation of an album and a music platform that allows access to the DNA of the songs as they’re created.

When you arrive at the site, be ready to listen! j.views introduces you to his one-of-a-kind music project. After listening to his introduction to the project, I suggest checking out the About page. If you don’t follow my link you can get there with the navigation menu that opens up when you click the on the button with three lines in the top left corner of the page.

There are three ways to navigate the  project. You can use the Timeline (default view)  where you’ll interact with the project by clicking different points on the timeline. Or you can choose to  navigate by tracks, choosing the track you want to interface with and then selecting points on the track’s timeline. The  last option is made available by selecting The DNA, this opens up a map of points that you can interact with by clicking. I think all three ways offer a different experience so check them all out.

This is a such a neat way to explore the process of creating an album, but what I really love is that it is all open source and there are a lot of samples for musicians to check out and use if they like. For example, I found this neat beat track in The DNA section that it would be fun to play with. There was also a cool point on The DNA map where I found a beach party sample that had been submitted in response to j.viewz request over Facebook, so it’s neat to consider the way music can be collaborative.

Go check out this one-of-a-kind experience today!
