Copy and paste with Facebook

Now and again, you’ll see a request to copy and paste something on Facebook and it’s not unusual to see a comment like, “I don’t know how to copy and paste.”  Copying and pasting on Facebook isn’t much different than copying and pasting anywhere else. It’s fairly simple and it’s a great tech still to have.

Let’s look at how to do it on a browser.  Here’s an example of something you might want to copy.

All you’ll be able to copy from Facebook is text. Click at the beginning of the text you wish to copy and then drag to select all of it.

On a Windows PC you can either press the Ctrl + C key on your keyboard or right-click the mouse and choose Copy from the drop-down menu.  On a Mac use Command + C.

To paste, create your new post or comment and click in it.

Then press Ctrl + V or right-click and choose Paste from the drop-down menu. On a Mac, use Command + V. Then hit Post if you’re making a post or the Enter key if you’re pasting in a comment field.

To copy and paste using the mobile app, press down and hold on the text you wish to copy. You should see the option to Copy.

Then create your new post or comment. Press down and hold. You should see the option to Paste.
