Little House on the Prairie Museum

brown field and blue sky

I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie, and I feel like at some point I read the books, but I can’t swear to it that I did. So when my sister linked to the Little House on the Prairie museum I knew I had to check it out.

After browsing around the site, I decided that it was really cool and that I wanted to share it with all of you. So here it is!

When you arrive at the site you’ll be on the landing page which treats you to a beautiful swath of blue sky over prairie. You’ll find the menu on the left side of the page near the top of the screen. It offers you options to navigate to Hours of Operation, Our Mission, The Museum, Tour and School Groups, Prairie Pictures, Support LHOP Museum, and Contact Us.

I suggest starting your visit to the webpage by clicking into The Museum section. There you’ll get to see lovely images of the replica log cabin, schoolhouse, and well.

After that I’d head over to Prairie Pictures where you can navigate through images from the museum. You’ll use the right and left arrows to navigate back and forth through them. The photos are pretty amazing! I love the one of the cow.

This was a really neat glimpse into the Little House on the Prairie Museum! Go check it out for yourself today!

  1. I’ve lived within a few miles of this site all my life. If you ever decide to make the trip, just know that the actual cabin on the site is a tiny replica of a log cabin. It is very small.

Not surprising since most log cabins were incredibly small, just about the size of a small room with all of the living, dining and sleeping done in one little room.
