Gmail Won’t Open in Edge

A reader has issues with their Gmail account:

“I can’t open anything in Gmail.  It flashes and then sticks like this in my inbox.

I don’t understand why. I clicked on the help icon within Gmail itself and saw that this same question has been posted.  I did everything that was listed there.  The only thing I wonder about is the fact that I’m not using Google Chrome.  I use Edge only.  I can open Youtube!!!  That would be on the same sign-in information as Gmail.  No problem there. Not a sign-in issue in the account itself.  I don’t have Google Chrome at ALL.  They are part of the evil in this country; same as Facebook and all the rest of big tech Cabal.  The main email I get would be from my Rumble subscriptions.  We haven’t upgraded to Window 11.”

Before we get into your issue, if you think Google is evil, I certainly wouldn’t use Gmail. After all, the G stands for Google, and they’re certainly getting a lot of information about you from your Gmail account. That being said, you do not have to use Chrome to access Gmail. But there could be an issue with your Edge browser. That’s why it’s good to have another browser like Firefox or Opera on your PC. Then you can do a quick check to see if Edge is the issue.

Let’s start by clearing the cache in Edge. Press Ctrl + Shift + Del. Then clear cached images.

If that doesn’t help, open your Gmail inbox. Click the lock icon on the address bar.

Click on Cookies in the drop-down menu.

Make sure the cookies necessary to open Gmail are allowed. If you don’t see them, click on the Blocked tab. If you see Google cookies under the blocked tab, click to enable them.

If the necessary cookies are enabled, you could try removing them and then closing and restarting Gmail. Some people report that’s helped with the issue.

You could also set up the Mail app on Windows 10 to download messages from your Gmail.

Let me know if any of this helps.
