Tile electronic tags make it easy to keep track of items like your luggage, purse, or even your dog. But the company is worried about the growing problem of stalkers using the devices to track their victims.
A new Scan and Secure app will allow anyone to use their smartphone to determine whether there are Tile devices nearby traveling with you. This works even if you don’t have a Tile account.
All you need to do is download the Tile app to your Android or iPhone smartphone. Then tap the Scan icon at the top right.
Then scroll down and tap Scan and Secure.
Then, walk or drive away from your current location. You’ll need 10 minutes of uninterrupted travel time. The app will then let you know if a Tile tracking device is affixed to your vehicle or is somewhere on your person or in your luggage.
