A reader has a question about an antivirus program:
“Is ScanGuard a safe software to download? It promises to speed up your computer.”
ScanGuard is safe to download in that there is no indication that it’s some type of scam. It legitimately is an antivirus. But there’s nothing about it that indicates it does anything special that a dozen other antivirus programs won’t do. In fact, in side-by-side comparisons, it seems to not perform as well as other similar antivirus programs.
So, I would say that while it probably is safe to use, there’s no compelling reason to switch up your antivirus unless you’re having an issue with it.
