A warning about a social media scam. Scammers send messages via hijacked Instagram accounts, usually belonging to someone you know. It claims that they need you to follow a link and vote for them in a contest. If you click on the link, you download malware that enables them to steal your log-in information. Then they’ll steal your account and use it to send out more of these messages.
These scammers will then try to get money from you to release your account. And if you issue a warning about your account hijack, scammers may also attempt to target you again with promises they can unlock your account.
