Turn pictures into data in a flash

If you’re using the Office Excel app on your Android phone, there’s a neat feature that allows you to turn a photo of other spreadsheets or lists into data and import directly into an Excel spreadsheet. Office apps like Word and Excel are free for your Android phone and can be used in conjunction with your Office 365 subscription. So, if you aren’t using them, consider going to the Google Play store and downloading.

Here’s how to make the feature work. Start by opening the Office app on your phone and then click the Apps icon at the bottom of the page.

Select Image to Table.

Point your phone camera at the spreadsheet you wish to photograph.

When you see an outline around the data you wish to convert, tap on Continue.

It will take a few moments to convert the data.

You’ll then have the chance to make corrections to the scanned data.

Then you’re ready to open your spreadsheet. Once you save the spreadsheet you can open it on your phone or on a laptop.
