Use rules to bump important email up in your inbox

How’d you like to bump your most important emails to the very top of your inbox and also flag them? You can use the Rules feature with Outlook.com to do just that.

Let’s learn how. Start by opening your Outlook.com inbox in a browser and clicking the gear symbol at the top right.

Then choose View all Outlook settings from the drop-down menu.

Choose Mail. Then select Rules.

Click the + sign to add a new rule.

Then name your rule.

I’ll call this Very Important People.

Let’s start by adding a condition. Click in the box underneath Add a condition to get started.

In this case, I’ll select From.

Add the person or persons you want to apply this rule to.

Now, we’ll add an action to take when messages from that sender arrive.

In this case, I will pin messages from Emma Jameson to the top of my inbox.

Then I’ll add another action.
