The iPhone 12 emits so much radiation that it’s too dangerous to sell, according to French regulators. In a surprising move, the county ordered Apple to stop selling the model because it allegedly emits more radiation than European safety standards allow.

The French regulatory agency that monitors wireless communication said the iPhone 12 failed two important tests. The agency called on Apple to “implement all available means to rapidly fix this malfunction.”

They ordered Apple to stop selling the 3-year-old phone model and said they would have to recall previously sold models if they didn’t come up with a fast fix for the radiation problem.

Apple denied there was any problem with the phone and said it had passed numerous safety studies all over the world. The company submitted multiple studies conducted on the phone to the French government.
