How to really see more of your friends on Facebook

The same old Facebook nonsense keeps going around and people keep sharing it, even going so far as to flat-out fib by posting something that says they tried it and it worked, when no such thing happened. There are numerous versions of posts that say you can change what you see in your Facebook feed by copying and pasting some bit of copy. Here’s an example of one of the posts:”

Here’s how to bypass the system FB now has in place that limits posts on your news feed. Their new algorithm chooses the same few people – about 25 – who will read your posts. So hold your finger down anywhere in this post and “copy” will pop up. Click “copy”. Then go to your page, start a new post, and put your finger anywhere in the blank field. “Paste” will pop up and click “paste”. This will bypass the system.

If you are reading this message, do me a favor and leave me a quick comment…a “hello,” a sticker, whatever you want, so you will appear in my newsfeed.

Okay here goes….HELLO. To regain friends in your news feed and get rid of ads – Hold your finger anywhere in this post and click ′copy’. Go to your page where it says ‘What’s on your mind?’ Tap your finger anywhere in the blank field. Click paste. This upgrades the system.

You are not bypassing or upgrading the system. You are not bypassing the ads. Everyone is going to see ads. Facebook is ad-supported. That’s just how it goes. Who and what you see on Facebook depends on what you show interest in. So, there is a sliver of truth in this. If your friends like and comment on your posts, you’ll see them move in your feed and vice versa.

Facebook thrives on interactions. Liking and commenting on your friends’ posts means you’ll see more of them. If you go to their profile and interact with a few of their posts, you’ll see more of them. If they interact with your posts, they’ll see more of you. Simple as that. There’s no magic trick.

I will caution you that one way to see more of something you don’t like is to keep talking about. If you comment on a news story about Taylor Swift to say you don’t care about Taylor Swift. You’ve shown interest in Taylor Swift, and you’ll see even more news stories about her. If you comment on a friend’s post about Taylor Swift to complain about Taylor Swift, you’re gonna see more Taylor.

A simpler, non-deceptive way to get friends to interact with your posts is to post something interactive like “Good morning” or “How’s your Tuesday going?” Same interaction. Zero deception.
