Create a Song With Alexa AI

Amazon’s Alexa has some new generative AI features you may want to check out. The Splash skill will create a custom song for you. You can use it with your Echo Smart speaker or the Alexa app on your phone or computer to get started.

Start by saying “Alexa, open Splash.” The app will tell you that it’s using generative AI and then ask what kind of song you’d like to hear. Give it a genre, and in about a minute, you’ll have a tune.

Alexa will then ask you if you’d like to add lyrics or make any other changes like changing the vocalist. For example, I asked the AI to make up lyrics about cats. If you’re using Splash on your Echo device or phone, you can then send a download link for the song to your phone.

According to the company, “This collaboration allows anyone to enjoy the magic of creating a song they love, for the moments that matter most, helping to deepen connections between family, friends and audiences. Users can personalize their songs, including genre, lyrics and vocalists, via voice commands, and conveniently send them to their mobile phones to download or share, all through a compatible Echo device.”

Creating a simple song is free, but there is a pro version that allows users to make more detailed chances.
