I’ve had a lot of question about the new Meta AI search in the Facebook app. The general consensus is that people aren’t too fond of it. This little glowing circle has replaced the familiar magnifying glass search icon.
When you search, it makes a bunch of suggestions based on your past activity. It also encourages you to ask Meta AI questions. What’s it all about? Facebook wants you to stay on Facebook and not head out to Google or another website to look for things.
If you start typing the name of a person or a page in the field, you’ll still your regular old Facebook search results.
You’ll also notice Meta AI making suggestions for comments and posts. One friend of mine suggested Facebook is trying to eliminate users entirely and just talk to itself. You cannot get rid of the new AI search, by the way.
