Nothing seems to get readers as fired up as looking for the Settings in Yahoo Mail. A few years ago, I got this message- “HOW MANY TIMES BY HOW MANY USERS TILL YOU UNDERSTAND THERE IS NO, AS IN NONE, NO DAMN GEAR AND USERS EVEN POSTED A SCREEN SHOT FOR YOU BUT EVIDENTLY YOU ARE A BLIND RESPONDENT!”
I offered a solution for browser and mobile that worked then and included screenshots. Well, three years later I got this message – “I thought I would give yahoo another shot but I have no settings/gear icon. I have tried every solution above. You still suck. Settings is the most important thing to have access to. Not dealing with a bunch of BS. Fix it! It’s obviously on your end. When I have access I will come back.”
I’m not sure why I suck. I was just trying to find a solution. In case folks don’t know, I just write about tech companies, I don’t have any pull with them and I certainly don’t control where they put the settings. However, I can update you on how to find the settings.
In a browser, open Yahoo mail and look to the panel on the far left. Click the 3-dot icon and choose Settings from the drop-down menu.

Then you should be able to access the settings.

Do you have a ZOOM function that enlarges your window? My eyes are getting older so I use the ZOOM on Windows Edge most of the time. Occasionally I open a window and have trouble finding controls on the sides because I have ZOOOMED them off the screen. Time to zoom from 125% to 100% or even 75%. (Then squint).
Using the Zoom function in the browser is the best way to enlarge a screen.
There is no gear Icon! No matter all the “solutions”
Frank, email me a screenshot of your gearless inbox at cynstechtips@cynmackley.com and I’ll see if I can’t figure out the issue. Let me know which browser you’re using on which operating system.
try typing in mail.yahoo,com/d/settings/4 it worked for me
Thanks, Cyn, even though this discussion is Yahoo based, there are good points made that transition to other situations as well. I had a similar experience and after much trial and error, by pure chance, I changed browsers and the problem resolved. There was much grief before resolution.
Thanks to Bengy D. Your solution worked, and I was able to make changes to Ymail. The is no gear, even now. Tried two browsers.

NO SETTINGS NO GEAR MO MATTER WHICH WAY YOU EXPLAIN IT JUST NOT THERE
