Today, I’m bringing you two Web sites just for the Labor Day holiday! One will teach you all about the history of Labor Day and the other is geared toward kids and work. Let’s begin!
Labor Day History – This section breaks down into four parts, with each bringing you a different facet of Labor Day history. How did we come to celebrate Labor Day? What events took place that influenced labor history? You will also learn about International Labor Day (or May Day) that is celebrated on May 1, as well as, why we celebrate it in September.
Labor Leaders – Here you will learn about the men who may have proposed that the holiday be celebrated. No one knows for sure who founded the holiday, but you can learn about the men who most likely did here. This section breaks down into five parts, each dedicated to a different person or organization that has made a difference in the way labor is looked at. From labor laws to riots, these men surely influenced change.
Video – Here you will find eight videos on Labor Day history, including the new industrial revolution, child labor and more.
Image Gallery – Here you will find ten images from parades, factories, fields and strikes that color the history of labor in America.
Poll – Here you can take a poll on whether or not you think the minimum wage should be increased.
Enjoy!

If you have children, this is a great Web site to check out with them. It discusses how kids work, what the laws are, what kinds of jobs they can do and what they learn from working. There are some testimonials from other kids as well. This is a great site that teaches kids what work is really all about!
Navigation is really easy. Just read the page and then use the link next to the Next Page > button to continue browsing. That will take you all the way through the site. I really loved the page where you learn what working teaches your kids. It’s some great information. I hope you like it too!
