Cue Prompter

Whether you need a teleprompter for your child’s school play or just for fun, you’ll find this free one to be pretty awesome! A school play was the only practical idea I could come up with for why the average person might need a teleprompter. But then again, who cares about practicality? This could be a lot of fun!

To get started, just type in the text you want to scroll across the teleprompter or you could copy and paste a script of something. Next, choose the font size and screen size you want to use and then click Start Prompter! I left it at the default “big” setting. You have up to 2,000 characters you can put in the text box as well.

The teleprompter opened in a new tab for me, so I’m guessing it will pop up in its own window for you. Along the top of the page, you have the Control Panel for the teleprompter. It is on the gray strip across the top. The controls are:

PgUp^ – This makes the text page go up to the top of your text.

Reverse – This scrolls the text back up.

Stop – This stops the text completely.

Forward – Click this to get the text scrolling. Clicking it multiple times will speed up the scroll.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 – These numbers represent the different scroll speeds you can choose from. Just click the numbers to speed up the scroll or slow it down.

F11 – This makes the page a full screen.

I couldn’t get the Norm or Mirror buttons to work, so I don’t know exactly what they do, but don’t worry, you don’t need them to use this.

Another great aspect of this teleprompter is that it is free for both commercial and non-commercial use. So, if you’re recording a commercial, newscast or something of the like, you could use this instead of paying for a teleprompter machine.

I just think this Web site is so nifty and I wanted to share it with all of you. Enjoy!
