Name Your Taskbar

A while back, I heard someone talking about how they added their name to their taskbar. Since then, I’ve been trying to figure out how to do it, but I can’t quite get it. Do you know how?

As a matter of fact, I do! This question doesn’t really fall into our normal fares, but when I saw it, I knew I had to add it to today’s newsletter. It’s just a fun little trick and once you learn how to do it, you’ll be able to teach all your friends how to do it too! I guarantee they’ll be impressed. Let’s check it out!

If you want to display your name, your spouse’s name, your company’s name, etc. in your Windows taskbar, all you have to do is follow these steps:

In XP, click on the Start button and select Control Panel. In order to see the view displayed below, you may have to switch to the Category View in the upper left.

From there, click on the Date, Time, Language and Regional Options link.

Then click Regional and Language Options.

Next, click on the Customize button under the Regional Options tab.

Select the Time tab, erase the AM/PM symbols, and type in the name you want to be displayed on your taskbar. When you’re done, click OK.

It will look something like this:

To do the same in Windows 7, type Region and Language in Start Search and click on the Additional settings button in the Region and Language dialog box.

In the Customize Format dialog box, erase the AM/PM symbols and type the name you want displayed.

In Vista, type Region and Language into Start search and click on the Regional and Language Options button.

In the Regional and Language Options dialog box, click the Customize this format button.

Under the Time tab in the Customize Regional Options dialog box, change the AM and PM, just as you would in XP or Windows 7.

That’s it! Now all you have to do is go and show off your new knowledge. Have fun!
