New Release: Firefox

As I’m sure most of you already know, another new version of the Firefox 2 Web browser was released early last week. Yep, Firefox made its debut to the public on July 1, 2008 and it is now available for download. The new version is part of Mozilla’s stability and security update process that has been ongoing since Firefox 2 was first released back in 2007. Keep reading for all the important details!

If you’re still using the Firefox 2 series for your Web browsing needs, it’s recommended that you upgrade to v2.0.0.15 as soon as possible. If you haven’t done so already, you can download it here (once you get to the Web site, select your language and operating system and then click on the Download link) or you can get it by opening up Firefox and going to Help, Check for Updates.

Now, I know a lot of you are probably questioning this, because as we’ve been telling you for the past couple of weeks, Firefox 3 is now available as well. While you are encouraged to upgrade to the new version, it’s also okay to continue using Firefox 2 if you’d like. According to Mozilla, the Firefox 2 programs will be maintained with security and stability updates until mid-December 2008. I know that’s only a few more months away, but if you want to wait a little while longer to make the switch over to Firefox 3, you can do so. It’s your choice!
