Pictures in SmartArt
Are you a fan of MS Office 2007’s SmartArt?
I know I am! I love the way I can easily organize my information in logical and appealing ways, without the hassle of drawing each element individually.
So, you can imagine my delight when I discovered I could replace individual items within the SmartArt with pictures of my own choosing.
For example, I can turn this:
Into this:
And all with just a few clicks of the mouse!

Sometimes pictures have much more impact than words.
If you’re interested in all of this, here’s the scoop!

First, you need to put the SmartArt into your document, spreadsheet, presentation, etc. (Insert ribbon, SmartArt button, choose an appropriate diagram and then click OK).

Next, you need to locate and copy the picture to be used.

Finally, right click on a single shape in the SmartArt and choose Paste.
Obviously, if you’re looking to change several items, you’ll need to repeat the last two steps until you’re happy with the results.
Also, I found the prompt for text that automatically comes in the SmartArt shape can be removed by replacing it with a blank space. If the text prompted is for a bulleted list, you can simply delete all the text and the bullets will not be displayed.
There you have it. A quick and easy way to dress up your SmartArt with pictures!
