Tamogotchi virtual pets were a huge hit in the 1990s, when it seemed like every kid (and some adults) were carrying around a tiny little digital friend that required constant care and feeding.
Now the high-maintenance virtual critters are making a comeback as a free smartphone app called Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. (Love is Fun Everywhere) Just like the original toys, you feed, play with and discipline your virtual pet. Only now you use a smartphone screen instead of pressing buttons.

The app features a social media component, so you can share your pet’s life with friends on Facebook (just like a real pet.)
Right now, it’s available for Android, but the company says an iPhone version is on the way. From the reviews, a lot of people who grew up in the 90s are really enjoying reliving their childhoods by playing. You can check out the app in the Google Play store.
