Improv Everywhere: The Mp3 Experiment Ten

I’m a huge fan of Improv Everywhere. Created in 2001, they are a collective based out of New York City and involving tens if thousands of undercover agents with one only one mission: to cause scenes of chaos and joy in public places.

When I saw that they did Mp3 experiment again this summer, I knew I wanted to share it with you. The unmitigated joy I get just from watching the video is heartwarming and brings a smile to my face. I hope it will do the same for you. And after you’re done with Experiment Ten you’ll probably be tempted to go back and watch the previous experiments.

So what exactly happened in Experiment Ten? Improv Everywhere gathered 7,000 undercover agents to head down to Manhattan’s South Street Seaport where they simultaneously played an mp3 with the instructions for their actions. They were dressed liked tourists to blend with the tourists they were surprising. I really love watching people’s reactions to the event.

Alright so navigation is easy. You can scroll down the page to see photos and read the accompanying description of the event. You can press play on the video to see the undercover agents in action and even check out the reactions of the unsuspecting tourists.

I’m not sure if it would be more fun to be in on the event or to be surprised by it. Go check it out today and decide which you’d prefer!
