Should I Upgrade From Vista?

I have Windows Vista and I’m comfortable with it.  Is there any gain to upgrading to Win 7 or 8 other than just having a new operating system to learn?

Although many people hated Windows Vista, I’m like you. I thought it worked fine. We’re in the minority, though. Only 4% of computers are using the Vista operating system.

If you’re happy with Windows Vista and it works well with the programs you use, you don’t have to switch. Microsoft will offer extended support of Vista through April of 2017, while support of Windows 7 will continue until January of 2020.

From personal use, I find Windows 7 to be much faster than Vista. I will also say that switching from Vista to 7 really isn’t learning a whole new operating system. They are pretty similar. As for Windows 8, it’s really a pretty nice operating system.

But when it comes down to it, a personal computer is, well, personal.  Use what works well for you, but don’t be afraid of change.

It’s time for me once again to issue my warning that Microsoft will end security support for XP in April 2014, so even if you love XP, it’s time to upgrade.

  1. I totally agree. I’ve never had a problem with Vista. I prefer Win7 to Win8, but my all time favorite is XP, it is soooo user friendly.
