Aereo Wants Laws Changed

A Supreme Court ruling basically put the Aereo out of business. The company records over-the-air antenna signals into a DVR and allows customers to play them back using an app. Now, they are lobbying for Congress to change both FCC regulations and copyright laws to permit their service to continue.

They’ve started a site called protectmyantenna.org that encourages consumers to lobby congress on their behalf.

BlackBerry Thinks It’s Hip To Be Square

Troubled device maker BlackBerry has unveiled their new Passport phone and it’s square shape is drawing a lot of attention. According to the company, the rectangular shape of the rest of the phones on the market is limiting innovations.

The 4.5″ square inch Passport offers full HD and the company says it offers the same viewing space as a 5″ smartphone.  They say the square shape is a result of research that shows the optimal number of characters on a line is 66 characters and most smartphones only show 40 characters a line. The Passport can show 60 characters a line, which makes it an ideal device for reading and browsing the web.

The company also says it will be easier for business users to look at designs and medical professionals to view x-rays. Plus, they point out that the physical keyboard will speed up tying and not cover up your screen.
