My computer’s clock has lost its mind! I have reset it and it will go to some absurd time every couple days for no apparent reason. Say it’s 2:30 in the afternoon, my silly clock will say it’s 8:45 AM. I have tried syncing it to internet time and have tried undoing that option, but the clock still seems to have a mind of it’s own. Can you help me? It’s driving me nuts!

Maggie, your computer as a small battery in your motherboard that helps maintain the date and time. It can run out of juice like any battery, especially if your computer is a few years old. Since you’ve already tried to sync to Internet time with no success. I’d suggest having that battery replaced. It’s not a do-it-yourself operation unless you are computer savvy, so you’ll need to find a reputable technician.
But if you’d like to give replacing it a try, check out the instructions in this article.

I have a net-book with a failed battery which requires too much work to take apart and replace so I have set the machine to sync with internet time every time that it boots up. Job done at no cost.
