I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to start an email to send in the 8.1, Mail App. Any help? I do like the double screen to see the emails that i have downloaded from my on line email client. But was wondering if i go to outlook.com and get an account can i then download it and have my Outlook back?
It’s super-simple to compose a new e-mail. Just click the + button in the upper-right of your inbox.

A new e-mail will be created.
You can just start typing your message.

If you want to add an attachment, choose the paperclip icon.

When you are ready to send, click the envelope icon.
If you go to Outlook.com and start an account, there won’t be any program to download to your computer. Outlook.com is an e-mail service, not a program that you download to your computer. The interface is very similar to that of the Mail App on you computer. But it does have a few more features, so if you’d like to start an Outlook.com account and check it out, go right ahead.
If you want the Outlook e-mail client for your computer, you can purchase it from Microsoft or another retailer and install it, but it will cost you close to $100.
The Mail App should be enough for your everyday e-mail needs, once you become comfortable with it.
