I am running windows 7 and it has a screen that comes up and says I need to update my drivers. I have clicked on it and takes me to a place says I need to pay for doing it. I am wondering if there is a way to update my drivers on my own if I don’t know what I am doing. Thank You for your help.
You don’t have to pay to update your drivers. It sounds like you’ve accidentally downloaded the DriverUpdate, which is a completely unnecessary piece of Scarware that tries to con you into paying for free downloads.
It doesn’t cost anything to update your drivers. That’s a service provided by either Microsoft or the company you purchased the device that needs the updating. DriverUpdate is often disguised as a free download to help you get drivers and sometimes it’s tacked on when you download another program on sites that offer freeware and shareware. We talked about avoiding programs like Driver Update in this article.

To uninstall this unwanted and unnecessary program, hit the start button and type uninstall a program in the search box. Then click on Uninstall a program.

Find DriverUpdate in the list of programs and select it. Then click Uninstall to remove it.

If you regularly run Windows updates, you should find the driver updates necessary for your device. No special programs are needed for updates.
