Five Most Popular Facebook Scams Revealed

According to the folks at Bitdefender, Facebook scams tend to fall into five categories  that target different areas of need.

1. See who viewed your profile

2. Change the appearance of Facebook such as background color or add a dislike button

3.Prize scams offering things like free iPads or gift cards.

4. Celebrity (view shocking videos of the famous or learn what this celebrity has done now.)

5. General shocking videos.

Many of these scams rely on people not understanding that you just can’t see who viewed your Facebook profile and that changing the background or adding a dislike button to Facebook would be just about impossible. It also counts on the fact that people will share or click on links they may even suspect are phony, thinking that “it can’t hurt” and they might win an iPad. Of course, it does hurt to share all your contact information with scammers.

Google Ups Free Chromebook Storage to 1 TB

Google is playing its own version of storage wars with Microsoft. New buyers of Chromebooks will receive 1 TB of free Google Drive storage.  That comes as Microsoft takes a direct swipe at Chromebooks with the small, inexpensive laptops like the Stream that rely mostly on cloud-based storage. The Stream runs a full version of Windows 8.1, comes with a free year of Office 365 and also 1 TB of OneDrive storage.

Chromebooks and Streams are available for under $200, which should make for a competitive holiday shopping season.
