It seems like every single time I write about a new Apple device, I lead off by saying that it’s the thinnest and lightest ever. So, here I go again – the new line of MacBooks will be the thinnest and lightest Macs ever!
Under 2 pounds and only 13 mm thick (or should I say thin?) And it now boasts an aluminum uni-body. It’s the first all-metal MacBook.

The laptops also have a new full-sized keyboard – again the thinnest ever- but, the company also promises that they are the most responsive ever. Apple is especially proud of their new trackpad called Force Touch that they promise brings “a new dimension of interactivity” to the device. It will introduce a new gesture – a click followed by a deeper press that you can use for tasks like looking a preview of file.
I’ve heard complaints about a cramped MacBook keyboard before, and Apple seems to have taken them to heart. They completely re-engineered the keyboard. They promise it is more stable and will give you a better response when typing. Plus each key is individually back lit with its own light so that every key has the same amount of light.

Despite being super thin, there’s a USB-C port that can be used to transfer date, as a video out cable and of, course as a charger.
Following the lead of the iPhone, the MacBook will come in three finishes – gold, silver and gray.

This is the first fanless MacBook, with no vents or moving parts. It runs on a 5th gen Intel Core M processor that Apple says makes it the world’s most energy-efficient notebook. That, combined with a new battery design means than the MacBook offers up to 9 hours of web browsing on a charge.
All of this does not come cheap. The MacBook starts at $1,2999 for 256GB storage and $1599 with 512 GB of storage. They will begin shipping on April 10.
