One of the most common questions we hear about the Windows 10 upgrade is – will it be a clean install and overwrite all my files or will it work like an upgrade and keep my settings and files intact.
There’s no word from Microsoft, but if you judge by what happens when you install the Windows 10 Technical Preview, you may be able to keep much of your information intact.

When install the Windows 10 Technical Preview on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 your settings, personal files and most apps stay intact.
Of course, you should back up all of your important files before upgrading just to be safe.
One program that won’t survive the upgrade is Windows Media Center Center. That means when you upgrade to 10 from 7, you will lost the ability to play DVD Movies and TV Shows on your computer. Whether this will still be the case when the final version of Windows 10 is released, I can’t be sure. I’ll let you know as soon as Microsoft makes the announcement.

This is my biggest concern also as I have allot of programs to add to Windows 10 OS. Upgrading to Win 8.1 produced a few that wouldn’t upgrade but mostly it was a clean install. In the past there were a few programs that would only accept a windows install and a second install was not allowed. So I appreciate the tips on this subject.
Sounds worth the while. But all aside,i have no problems getting around my current version 8.1 so I am not quite ready yet.
I know it creates extra work re-installing but I do not like upgrades. A clean install insures you have a clean running copy if the OS and helps you get rid of programs you never use.
looking forward to your update. I’m appreciating your outside technical comments on what’s to come.
What about YouTube videos? I watch alot of instructional vids. Need my art lessons.
