The smartwatch that Apple fans have been drooling over finally has a launch date. The much-anticipated Apple Watch will be available for sale on April 24.

Prices for the watch range from the Apple Sport Watch starting at $349 all the way to $10,000 for 18-karat gold models in the Apple Watch Edition.

Of course, you can use your Apple Watch as a watch and choose from a number of customizable watch faces. It also will function as a fitness band when used in conjunction with apps on your iPhone and has built-in heart rate sensor and accelermometer.

This watch is not a stand-alone device really, it’s designed to work in conjunction with your iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6 or 6 Plus running iOS 8.2 or later.
When used in conjunction with the iPhone, you can use the watch to listen to music from iTunes, send messages, check notifications and answer phone calls. What you do with the device will have an effect on the watch’s battery life.
Apple says the watch is good for 18 hours on one charge, but when you use it for tasks like phone calls, that drops significantly. If you were to use the watch for constant phone conversations, the charge would only last for three hours. If you’re listening to music, you can expect about a six hour battery life. You can check out the battery life information here.
There’s been a lot of buzz over the past few years that “wearables” were the new frontier in technology and lots of companies have poured millions of dollars into developing a product that consumers will not only buy, but continue to use after the new gadget glow wears off. A lot of people think that the Apple Watch is the device that will finally answer, “What do I do with a smartwatch?”
