Microsoft says it’s working hard to make sure the Windows 10 operating system takes up as little space as possible on your hard drive. Microsoft says that, thanks to super-efficient file compression, Windows 10 will leave you several GBs more space to use, depending on your device.

They promise that the compression will not affect the system, because they’ll factor in the amount of memory and the speed of the CPS when determining which files will be compressed. When you upgrade to Windows 10, it will automatically assess your device and compress Windows 10 files according to what works best with your system.
Compression will also ensure that apps from the Windows 10 store take up as little space as possible.
As devices get smaller and lighter, hard drive capacity is shrinking as well. It makes sense to use as little room as possible for the OS.

Windows 10 continually raises more questions than answers. Soooo, which came first, the ‘Phantom’ or the ‘Opera’? What ‘device’ is ‘assessed’; what system ‘works best’? Do they exist, are they on the drawing board, or will they all appear in the fall with the full release of 10? Call me ‘confused in anticipation’.
Hi Cynthia,
This is not a tip on WIN 10, yet it’s a welcome information. I find, many times Information is portrayed as Tips. So, I suggest to WordStart Admin to categorize information and put them under ‘Information or New Developments’ instead of posting them as Tips.
