In a post in the Community Standards section of Facebook, the company laid out its ground rules. The company says that it restricts nudity because some people may be sensitive to the subject due to their cultural backgrounds or age.

The company also says they will not allow images of genitals or fully exposed backside but will allow bare breasts under the following circumstances:

  • It shows a woman actively breastfeeding.
  • The images depict post-mastectomy scarring.
  • The images are of paintings or sculptures that depict nudity.

Explicit images of sexual activity are also forbidden unless posted for educational or humorous purposes. Explicit written descriptions of sexual activity may also be removed.
