Even those of you who aren’t fans of social media will agree that this is a pretty good use of Facebook. Alabama mother, Kyesha Smith Wood learned that her teenage daughters behaved pretty badly at a showing of Cinderella.
The girls were so loud that a woman in the audience reprimanded them. The girls were disrespectful and didn’t listen. After the show the woman approached the girls and explained that her husband had been let go from his job and that it was the last movie she’d be able to see for some time and that they had ruined the experience.
The teens found themselves in big trouble at home after their teenage brother told their parents about what happened. The angry mom posted this message on community news Facebook page hoping to track down the woman.
She and her husband had the girls write a letter of apology they wanted to deliver to the woman. The parents were also going to make the girls pay for another movie and snacks for the woman and her family out of their allowance.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office picked up the story and posted it on their Facebook page, hoping to help track the woman down.
The Sheriff’s office later posted that the Mom had successfully tracked down the woman she was looking for.
The photo of that Mom’s post drew 246,290 like and 50,000 shares. Commenters heaped praise on the parents for teaching the girls a valuable lesson about good behavior.
The woman in the theater told a local newspaper that she was touched that the parents cared about the way their children behaved in a time when many parents prefer to make excuses.

I’m glad to see parents taking responsibility in their children’s raising. It does my heart good to see parents disciplining their children in this day and time when that is few and far between. I’m proud of the parents and the children for helping those people remember how good life can be.

This mother handled the problem perfectly!!! I am so-o-o glad she was able to get in touch with the other mother and have her daughters apologize for their actions and helped them learn a valuable lesson. That is great paranting
This is addressed to Kyesha Smith Wood. I am 69 and was brought the old fashioned way, to show respect and consideration to those around me. After reading your Face Book post I think you and your husband are great parents and would feel privileged to have your family as one of my neighbors. Your children will remember this lesson from the two of you and carry it into their adult lives. I also think your form of punishment is is right on.
These parents are awesome! I am so glad to hear of a parent who teaches and practices respect.
Their actions were not private so why should the punishment be private. There are way to many kids that act that way these days. This mom is great.
