Cable giant Comcast says it’s giving up on the idea of merging with Time Warner Cable. Government regulators were not keen on the idea and that seems to have finally killed a merger that would have created a media monolith.

Brian Roberts, CEO of Comcast said, Of course, we would have liked to bring our great products to new cities, but we structured this deal so that if the government didn’t agree, we could walk away.”
The FCC was pleased with the decision, saying that the ending the merger was in the best interest of the of consumers.
